Started in November 2009, I double stranded the Bollicine Sissi yarn for a heavier weight fabric. Made of Mohair, Cashmere, and wool.
I had a (3/4 sleeve, knee length) coat completely sewn together, then put it in time out due to design issues I couldn’t answer. Plus the coat just looked too boxy. It’s been in time out since January 2010! Then, I took it all apart - back down to the individual sq
June 2016: The old coat will be reincarnated as a cape. I've ripped all the old squares apart and have added new squares while incorporating the original yarn.
The plan is to have a tree motif on the back. At the neck I'll be using sheep curls to give a nice warm feel.
July 2016: Cape is taking shape. Neckline has been knitted with a Mountain Hollow Farm Store & Studio’s cashmere goat and silk yarn to give a nice warm and soft feel close to the neck and around the arm openings for accent.
The squares will be sewn together randomly at differing angles.
August 2016: Attached the ruff made out of hand spun and dyed wool (teal/rust colored) and white sheep locks (tips, curls). I LOVE the ruff it came out exactly like I had envisioned it and it makes this cape warm.
The piece mostly completed. The finished cape is 60 inches in circumference and reaches to about my fingertips.
